The hospice mission is to provide compassion and care to terminally ill patients and their families. Your generosity can help the Senator Bob Hooper House fulfill this mission in the home-like setting of its residential facility.
Hospice acknowledges that, not only is the end of life a medical event, it is a psychological, social and spiritual event. Patients experience a wide range of emotions and changes, and they and their families may have difficulty understanding and accepting what is happening.
The professionals at Senator Bob Hooper House, in collaboration with Amedisys and Gilchrist Hospice, Inc., offer mental and spiritual preparation for patients and their loved ones, focusing on hope, healing and meaning. Social workers provide counseling services and information regarding resources available through community, state and federal agencies. Chaplains lend spiritual support as desired. Trained hospice volunteers offer friendly visits, compassionate listening and companionship.
